Highbury Penthouse | London
Private Residence

Following the refurbishment of this penthouse apartment overlooking Highbury Fields in London, we were appointed to apply specialist surfaces to several areas within the stunning apartment.

The owners had reconfigured their master bedroom suite to include a fabulous frameless walk in shower. The key design feature of the shower was a beautiful solid marble structure that divides the space between bedroom and bathroom and houses the glass shower screens. In addition, a lowered ceiling, clever lighting and a surround wall completes the feeling of space. It was our job to create a finish to this wall to ensure that it complemented the marble and again gave the area a feeling of expansiveness.

We waterproofed all the walls and then used a lime based plaster mixed with marble powder to create a Marmorino polished plaster surface. We further embellished this with a light pearlescent wash which reflected yet more light. The shower then had a waterproof sealant applied.

We were also commissioned to paint the raised ceiling of the master suite to reflect the night sky. The brief included a reference to the Northern Lights, so we applied layer upon layer of super matte chalk paint of various tones, bringing a sense of movement and depth to the colour. The addition of subtle gold leaf and glitter stars completed the effect.

The final phase of the project was to lacquer the grand floor-to-ceiling double doors that open from the hallway into the expansive living area. The brief was to continue the theme of the highly reflective Mondrian-style panels that adorn the hallway so we selected a luxurious base colour and then lovingly applied many layers of lacquer to create a chic, glossy finish to the doors.
