Old Queen Street is a private residence situated in the heart of bustling St. James in Londons’ Westminster. What makes this grand house even more appealing is it’s incredible location: direct views over the magnificent Birdcage Walk.
The house underwent a complete renovation across its six floors. We were briefed to redesign the interiors, giving them a dramatic finish that was unique and handcrafted.
Cornicing was stripped back to its original state, prior to gilding with white gold, then overlaying with lacquer to prevent tarnishing. Walls in the basement were given a luxurious pearlescent finish. In several rooms, we hand painted ‘wallpaper’ to reflect the beauty of Birdcage Walk, adorning the walls with an array of ferns and birds. The subtle linen effect of the background adding texture to the finish.
The house is a place of tranquillity and calm, an oasis from the hustle and bustle outside. It feels luxurious yet comfortable and the artisan craftsmanship sets it apart from the usual run of the mill renovations.
